Kenneth Maller, O.D.
Dr. Ken Maller earned his doctorate in Optometry from the Illinois College of Optometry. He immediately entered private practice and currently is in private solo practice in Fort Lauderdale, FL. While in private practice he has also participated as a clinical investigator for multiple studies regarding contact lenses and contact lens solutions. He has had many articles published, authored the first Wave contact lens Designers Certification Program, and has lectured extensively. He put together an entire weekend private educational meeting devoted to all specialty contact lens fitting using Wave custom design software. He drew doctors from around the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico, and the United Kingdom. He lectured for sixteen hours on the application of this technology for single vision, toric, multifocal, Orthokeratology (myopic/hyperopic/ astigmatic/ multifocal), myopia control, post-surgical corneas, and diseased corneas. Designs for corneal and scleral gas permeable lenses were demonstrated while providing the philosophies, theories, and science behind the art. Dr. Maller is a member of the American Optometric Association, the Contact Lens and Cornea Section, The Contact Lens Society, and a charter member of both the Othok.NETwork and the Orthokeratology Academy of America. He is on the Advisory Board of the Gas Permeable Lens Institute, a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry, a Fellow of the International Academy of Orthokeratology, a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthokeratology and Myopia Control, a Fellow of the Scleral Lens Education Society, and a Diplomate of the American Board of Optometry. He is in the process of earning his Diplomate in the Cornea Contact Lens and Refractive Technology section of the American Academy of Optometry.
Dr. Maller’s contact lens-only practice is devoted to Orthokeratology and Myopia Control for Fort Lauderdale area families, as well as providing visual resolution for the irregular cornea with specialty contact lens care. He custom designs all of his contact lenses and has over 25 years of experience using Orthokeratology to address Myopia, Hyperopia, Astigmatism and Presbyopia. In addition to lecturing, Dr. Maller also provides clinical consultation services through one-on-one private instruction as well as case-by-case help. Through telemedicine he fits patients for doctors remotely to enhance the contact lens practice of the physician and provide contact lens services to their patients that would otherwise not be possible. Dr. Maller also mentors fourth year optometry externs from ten Optometry schools
