When Do You Need to Get New Prescription Glasses?

17 April, 2020 by Myopia Institute

Wearing the wrong prescription eyeglasses or contact lenses can affect your vision. It can also start affecting your routine. To ensure that you’re wearing the right eyewear, make it habit to regularly see your eye doctor.

Here are signs you need new eyeglasses.

Double Vision

Double vision occurs when your eyes have a difference in vision. As that difference increases so does the occurrence of double vision. Wearing the right prescription and type of lenses can address this eye problem.

Headaches

Changed eye vision can trigger frequent headaches. Headaches are one of the first signs that you need to wear vision-correcting eyewear. Your eye doctor may recommend different vision correction options including eyeglasses, contact lenses and corneal reshaping therapy.

Squinting

Those who don’t have clear vision tend to squint a lot. Squinting helps improve focus and clarity. However, you’re doing your eyes more harm than good as this puts a lot of strain on them. You likely need to get new glass if you always find yourself squinting when using the computer, reading or watching the television.

Blurred Vision

Loss of focus and sudden or occasional blurred vision can indicate the need for new prescription eyewear. While it can happen due to sudden vision change, it can also be a sign of a more serious condition, such as a cataract. Get in touch with an eye specialist for proper diagnosis and treatment.

Flashes or Floaters

Some see sudden flashes or floaters in front of their eyes. It usually occurs in bright conditions. If it happens when there isn’t a bright light, it could be a sign of a change of vision or a problem in the retina.

For concerns about vision therapy options like ortho-k lenses or eyeglasses, contact an eye specialist in your area.
